The Brahmasūtra of Bhagavān Veda Vyāsa and its commentary by Bhagavān Ādi Śaṅkarācārya give the distilled essence of all Upaniṣads. Every Upaniṣad reveals that knowledge of the oneness of the Self that destroys the ignorance that is the cause of all problems. The Brahmasūtra and its commentary masterfully demonstrates that this is primary theme of all Upaniṣads. Through its defusing of arguments from many opposing viewpoints, the commentary on the Brahmasūtra gives those who study great clarity, depth, illumination, and finally peace.
The first sutra states, “athāto brahmajijñāsā” – Thus, therefore, the desire to know Brahman. Bhagavān Ādi Śaṅkarācārya demonstrates how the desire to know Brahman arises and why one should want to know Brahman.
The first sutra and its commentary will be detailed through discourses, self-reflection, group discussions, Q&A sessions, meditation sessions and the submission of brief writing samples. This thorough methodology is what makes this an Advaita Vedānta Immersive. Indeed, it is an amazing opportunity to study the commentaries of Bhagavān Ādi Śaṅkarācārya in His very birth home!
