Webinars in Progress

1. Sanskrit Webinar

Introductory Sanskrit Webinar: Ancient Keys to Modern Doors

If you are interested in getting an introduction to Sanskrit in an easy but structured and systematic way, then this Webinar is for you.
Eligibility: No experience required. We will start from absolute basics, and work our way up to being able to understand basic Sanskrit.
Objective: Through this webinar, we intend to explore just how cool Sanskrit actually is. Students will gain guidance on how to progress to higher levels of Sanskrit knowledge as well. Our goal is to eliminate the fear of Sanskrit while diving into the depth of actual Sanskrit grammar, giving students a taste for real sastra study.

Class textbooks: Following books authored by Smt Pushpa Dikshit are recommended for the course

Due to the second book being out of stock and the difficulty of obtaining the first book around the world, we will be uploading PDFs of the relevant sections of both books from week to week. In case you purchased the books, good for you -- they will be a treasure for you for life. In case you could not purchase the books, no need to worry.

Date/Time: Sunday, 5th February 2017, at 9AM IST.
Course Fee:  The course is aligned to the gurukula system with no fee.
Duration of the Course: 20 weeks (tentatively, subject to change)

Course specifics: We will be gaining an introduction to what actual sastra study is like, by studying the sarvadhatuka section of Sanskrit grammar, which is the usage of the present tense (lat), imperative mood (lot), past tense (lan), and optative mood (vidhilin), for every single verbal root that exists in Sanskrit. If there is time, we will move ahead to the ardhadhatuka section of grammar, covering future tense (lrt) and various other forms if possible. We will learn to join verbal roots to their suffixes in a mathematical way, which will give us an insight into the minds of the Rishis.
Assessment will be constant, though we could have some kind of exam at the end.
Q&A will be part of every class, and could even have a pure Q&A session every 5th class.

2. Panchadashi of Swami Vidyaranya

Webinar Satsang by Swami Advayananda

Panchadashi, the composition of Swami Vidyaranya, is a Prakarana Grantha. The major emphasis of this text is to help sincere seekers in getting the perfect vision of the Truth without any doubt whatsoever, in the philosophical aspects of the truth. The study of Vedantic philosophy is incomplete without a thorough study of Panchadashi.

This text, comprising of 15 chapters, is grouped into three categories:

a)  Viveka-panchakam – Dealing with the discrimination of the real from the non-real

b)  Dipa-panchakam – Expounding the nature of the Self as pure consciousness

c)  Ananda-panchakam  – Dwelling on the bliss-nature of Brahman

It is opined by commentators that the three aspects of Brahman – Sat (existence), Cit (consciousness) and Anand (bliss), respectively are covered in each Panchakam.

Text Books: Panchadasi from Ramakrishna Math and Panchadasi with the commentary of Swami Tejomayananda on chapters available from Central Chinmaya Mission Trust.
