Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayanandaji Gives Fresh Impetus To Further Expansion And Consolidation CIF’s various academic projects received fresh impetus from our chairman, Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayanandaji who with his enormous support and clear guidance also gave further boost to the Foundation’s infrastructural expansion. A handsome and much needed financial support came from Rev. Fr. Antony Elanjimattom whose gracious donation of Rs 15 lakhs was hugely inspirational. This enabled CIF build another residential block of 10 self-contained rooms for scholars thus expanding Iswar Kripa even more. The new blocks were inaugurated by Rev.Fr.Antony Elanjimatom on 16th April 1997. With growth came new appointments to enrich our educational and research activities. One key appointment was that of Dr. A. Ramaswamy Iyengar as Director who today is in charge of CIF’s research and developmental activities. Subsequently, CIF added staff quarters, an accommodation for the Director of the Foundation and a library building for housing the huge collection of books and research material which is the mainstay of researching scholars today. This period also saw a new development in CIF’s activities on the net. In association with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, CIF created “Geeta on the Hypertext”, a computer software intended to be most user-friendly and inter-active. This software will display on the computer screen four windows simultaneously: one will display the chosen Geeta Verse, the second the word meanings, the third a free flowing translation and the last window will relay Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayanandaji’s commentary on the verse. Additionally, the user will be able to do spot searches on various topics like Tapas, Yagna, Kama, Karma, Bhakti and Jnana with the help of the computer. A National Seminar on ‘Sanskrit Research and Modern Challenges’ was organized in April 1997 in which eminent Sanskrit scholars from all over India representing various Universities and Research Institutes in Sanskrit and Oriental Learning took part. The focus of this meet was to take stock of the status of Sanskrit studies and Research in India and to identify research projects to be taken up by CIF. A sacred Shrine in memory of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayanandaji was inaugurated and dedicated to humanity on 2nd November 1997. To mark this occasion, CIF brought out a publication of the proceedings of the ‘Seminar on Sanskrit Research and Modern Challenges’.
