Panchadashi, the comprehensive philosophical masterpiece by Sri Bharati Tirtha and Swami Vidyaranya, is a compendium of 15 foundational treatises or prakarana-granthas. Thus each Chapter becomes a complete text too for one’s study. This epic work is altogether a singular treatise on the entire philosophy of Advaita-vedanta. Panchadashi lays the foundation of the essentials of Vedanta and elucidates the Upanishadic thoughts by revealing the identity of the Self with the supreme Brahman, thus dispelling the ignorance of the Self.
This webinar will cover Panchadashi Chapter 8 – Kutastha Deepa Prakarana (The Lamp of immutable Self).
The term ‘kutastha’ means ‘unchanging like an anvil’ and refers to the inner Consciousness, the pratyagatman. In reality, this kutastha is verily the pure unlimited Consciousness, the shuddha-chaitanya. How then does the unlimited appear to be limited? And how can a seeker recognise the seemingly limited inner Consciousness, that is the kutastha-chaitanya or pratyagatman, to be truly the unlimited pure Consciousness, that is the shuddha-chaitanya? Svami Vidyaranya unravels these mysteries in the Kutastha Deepa Prakarana, the 8th chapter of the Panchadashi.
