Mahalaya Amavasya, also known as Sarvapitr Amavasya, is an auspicious day to remember and pay gratitude to our ancestors. This year Mahalaya Amavasya is on the 14th and at Adi Sankara Nilayam special offerings including Kathopanishad Parayana, Pitr Tarpana and Pujas for the Sadgati of Pitrs will be made under the guidance of Swami Sharadananda Sarasvati. Tila homa shall be performed at the Chinmaya Swayambhu Ayyappa Temple.

The pujas will include the chanting of the three sections of Kathopanishad Chapter 1, followed by Gadadhara Gaya Vishnu Puja, Sarvapitr Tarpana and annadanam.
