Chinmaya International Foundation (CIF), Chinmaya International Foundation Shodha Sansthan (CIFSS) and Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM) have embarked upon celebrating the International Yoga Day by conducting a three-day national level conference from 30 June to 2 July 2023.
This conference Yoga as An Embodied Culture of Bharata endeavours to present Yoga as subsumed in various cultural, religious and social practices in India. Both the classical and the folk (tribal) forms of art such as dance, music, painting, sculpture, martial arts, etc. exhibit various facets of Yoga. Religious practices such as pilgrimage, observation of vows, community-oriented festivals, etc. also incorporate the mental and physical practices of Yoga. Simple daily practices like prayerful attitude in all activities (karāgre vasate lakṣmī, etc.), how food is cooked, served and eaten, how one takes a bath, how one decorates the courtyard with rangoli/kollams, etc. depict that the very social life of an Indian is ingrained in the foundation of Yoga.
The conference strives to throw light upon the contribution of Yoga towards various such socio-cultural and religious practices in India.
Papers will be presented by students, scholars, artists, yoga practitioners on the following themes:
● Yoga in Music
● Yoga in Dance
● Yoga in Martial Arts
● Yoga in Other Practices
Each paper presentation: 10 minutes
30 June 2023: Final Day for Paper Submission

Appeal for Funds
The organizers managed to raise funds partially to meet expenses of this conference, but we still need about Rs. 1 Lakh to organize this event on a scale that has been planned to include cultural performances and meet the boarding expenses of several paper presenters covering various aspects of Yoga's influence of culture of Bharata. We appeal to Yoga, culture and art enthusiasts to generously donate to this conference so that all the traditional cultural performances who need our support and patronage can be included in this event which will mean a lot for the preservation and propagation of the art and culture of Bharata.
