Bhiksha – Offering Food

Offering bhiksha (food) to a swamin (sannyasin), brahmacharin and antevasin (ashram residents) have been considered one of the foremost duties and privileges of a householder in the Indian tradition. It has been considered a great blessing equivalent to offering food for the entire universe. One could offer breakfast, lunch, dinner or full day bhiksha. CIF also has the Maha Bhiksha option, through which you can offer food on a special occasion including birthdays, anniversaries or any day of importance to you, for 11 consecutive years by making a donation of ₹2,00,000 or US$5000.

Samskriti Samrakshak – Temple Suppor

The Chinmaya Swayambhu Ayyappa temple was the place of worship for Sri Adi Sankara and Aryamba, his mother. You may support the temple worship by contributing a donation. Every month a puja would be offered at the sacred Swayambhu Ayyappa temple in the names of the donors on the nakshatra (star) of their birth or any day of their choice and the prasada would be sent to them.

Nakshatra Vanam – Raise a Forest

To nourish our bond with nature, trees and Mother Earth, CIF is creating a garden of Nakshatra trees and plants and you can be a part of this unique project. In the Indian tradition, whenever a baby is born, the family plants a tree of the same Nakshatra (birth-star) of the newborn, and as the baby grows, it nourishes the tree, thus binding the person to a close earth connection.
