In the second chapter, where Guruji has laid out the various perspectives for explaining how it was foolish to grieve - under the Knowledge perspective, we are told about Atman and Jivatma. I wanted to understand whether these two concepts are the same and if there are any differences in these?

Hari Om.in one of the self assignments for one question vedji gave us these choices............Jivatman, Dehatman, Paramatman, Pratyagatman, and Adhyatman.
The 'transmigrating being' is called Jivatman. The jiva is reborn till he attains liberation and till then will be born in various realms such as earth, heaven. and hell.Atman is the Pure Consciousness. The Life principle in us.Which makes the BMI work. Our absolute identity is
Paramatman.Nature of Sat, Chit, Ananda. Existence, Consciousness, Bliss.
Atman is the changeless substratum on which all the changes happen.
The Self is ever indestructible. It exists from beginingless time.the Real never perishes and the unreal 'never is'.Jivatman is an apparent existence.Mithya.
Self is free of all modifications........birth,growth,decay,death etc.Birth is...... that was not there before and come now to existence. Self is our Real nature. Since it is birthless and deathless. Self can never be killed.
Self can not be cut, nor burnt, nor moistened, nor dried up. It is eternal, all pervading, stable, immovable, and ancient.

Hari Om!
I would just like to add one point. Jivatman is Atman surrounded by the subtle body comprising mind and intellect and the causal body or Karana sarira. When the body drops after death, this Jivatman goes on its forward journey. It is this Jivatman which returns to the body after enjoying various Lokas as per the Punya and Paapa it had obtained. It returns because the sukshma and karana sarira are still attached. The sanchita karma phala is still there to be exhausted. There are still Vasnas that need exhausting.
But Atman is pure and of the nature of immutable, indestructible Self effulgent Consciousness itself.

Hari Om,

Please clarify whether any difference exists between Atman, Paramathman and Self?

From the comments, it appears that Jivatma is one which migrates from body to body. Till date, we consider one entity, namely jivatma who has all the qualities of Atman and Jivatma. If Atman & Jivatma are different how human is connected with Atman ?

HRI OM,
Jivathma is ignorant of it's pure nature. Jivathma gets identified with body, Mind, Intellect as false ego. This ignorance is veiling the knowledge of pure nature.
