We talked in detail about sorrow and delusion. There is an ongoing debate in the press about the concept of clinical depression and the use of medications to rectify the same. Doctors diagnose and prescribe these pills based on their assessment of patient mental health.

The concepts laid out by Lord Krishna illustrates attitude and impact on altitude through Karma Yoga - action devoted to His service. Faith is core. Is physical medicine then a redundant option? Is a diagnosed mental health issue such as depression and attention disorder typically an attitude adjustment that does not need prescription medications to control in all cases? Is there more to this?

A healthy body and mind is required for studying scriptures. It's not possible to study scriptures on an empty stomach! Arjuna had a very healthy, capable body, mind and intellect but was misunderstanding the situation which caused him sorrow. So Bhagavan gave him that knowledge. But since he still did not understand Bhagavan taught him Karma Yoga which is where the attitude adjustment occurs.
Attitude change to practice Karma Yoga and pills to treat physical ailments are at very different levels.

Hari Om ! I tend to agree with Mahavir ji. Western Medicines ( such as antidepressants ) has some utility at bodily level as they give quick relief ( even though produces some unintended side effects as well most of times ). It is symptomatic , temporary and works by modifying chemicals inside our body. It brings relief to people who are very low in mental strengths & require immediate intervention .As such , it takes a lot of time , persistence and blessings to follow Karma Yoga completely . Karma Yoga is a long path full of difficulties initially but completely transformative in nature . It serves the larger purpose of ' Chitta Shuddhi ' which ultimately leads one to moksha.
